Almayate is located 25 km from Malaga, near Velez Malaga and only 2 km from Torre del Mar, at the Costa Tropical's wonderful beaches.
Take advantage of the many sporting and leisure activities available in the neighbourhood. All sorts of water sports are practised in the area, and there are many golf courses within easy reach. Malaga and its airport can be reached quickly along the improving N340, and a big plus compared to residential developments along the Costa del Sol is the proximity to the Sierra Nevada and its winter sports. The Axarquia region itself is a haven for animal and plant life.
Almayate is a small village which appeared as a result of the quarries which provided the materials for the building of Malaga Cathedral and which has gradually expanded down towards the coast in order to concentrate on agriculture (sugar cane, flowers etc.).
Near the mouth of the River Velez is an extremely interesting archaeological site containing Phoenician remains ( 8th-6th centuries B.C.).
